Caught the train to Antwerp, like civilised people. It was the Thalys express to Paris and much nicer than flying.
The Central train station was interesting - it has three stories of train tracks and we arrived in the basement.
The old part of the station was very ornate.
Heading West out along De Keyserlei in search of Cathedral of Our Lady. It was only about 10am so the streets were still very quiet.
Meir, the main shopping street. It is a road, but there were no cars.
Paleis op de Meir
Our target! Cathedral of Our Lady/Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal
Grote Markt, for some (average) lunch.
Always a ferris wheel, this time on the river (Schelde) which connects to the North Sea (via the Netherlands)
Vleeshuis - a building for the butchers guild (made to look like bacon, legit).
Back at Grote Markt
Heading (unknowingly) in the direction of Carolus Borromeuskerk
After that we meandered back to Central Station via pretty much every (now, very) busy shopping street. Dinner was ‘mexican’ and does not warrant further discussion.
Back to Amsterdam on the train.
